12/22/2023 0 Comments Vango capri 400 porch doorMaybe if I was more confident knowing what I was getting into I would! Can you tell I am anxious about this investment!!! Paul+kate - not sure re a second hand tent, it is just the thought of no come back should there be an issue. I just want a fuss free, easy to pitch tent with the ideal internal space so that I don't regret the purchase and want to upgrade next year or feel I made a choice on too tight a budget and the tent doesn't suit. I don't mind choosing an older model, but also feel that the 'kinks/issues' will have been ironed out the newer the tent. Didn't have any other Vango's in the airbeam on show other than 6 man +. Jonbyrne - been today! Saw the Outwell Clipper M there, which was a useful bonus. We've just sold a vango eden 600 xl polycotton tent plus footprint carpet and a shed load of rock pegs for £800 so there are very good bargains to be had on the second hand market Would you consider a used tent as a lot of people have bought new tents and are off loading our old tents There are a lot of tents in your price range all are equally suitable to the uk camping weather it's just a case of personal choice of which design to go for Rule of thumb is a hydrostatic head of 1500 is classed as waterproof so I'd say anything above 2000hh is suitable for a uk weekend tent Thanks again I do appreciate the responses as I realise this is a lot harder than envisaged! This is going to be more of a weekend tent, possibly max of a week if I get adventurous! Jonbyrne - your post made me realise I've no idea about pitching a tent, direction etc, I need to read up on this! However if directed to a pitch you wouldn't have an option would you? Thanks for the advice re hydrostatic head. I am a total new camper and so far the sun has been out (2014 was a good year!), if it rains as I am positive it will do, it may impact my opinion and there is only 1 adult + 1 child so I need to be realistic with this purchase. Paul+kate - I loved the Hayling, but pushing the budget (love the idea of the vestibule which can be added on which seems reasonably priced too). Keep getting drawn back to the Vango (I need to start being more practical), but the inside space is a real issue, I even thought I could stretch to the Capri 5 man but internal space would be very narrow, bit longer than the 400. The Brean has a sun canopy of sorts, limited though. I've seen the Outwell Clipper M today so that has gone in as a contender. This is all really helpful, keep them coming please!!! A £25 tarp from Decathlon would probably serve you much better than the canopy on the Vango as its much more flexible. It pooled there and the water kept coming for about 8 hours with no ingress, so I would suggest that the 4000mm of the Vango would be fine.Īdding extra inside space is much harder and expensive that adding covered outside space, so if you think the Vango is to small internally then you need to take that into account. We got our Vango Da Vinci last year and its HH is 3000mm, we got through some pretty bad storms without any problems, including one point on our first pitch where I had not got it quite right and we where also under a tree which poured water on this point. I am asking for some experienced opinions here, what would be your preference and why? Thank you all in advance. The canopy on the Vango is very attractive in terms of evenings sitting out, the Kampa's is a lot smaller and no sides to it - does that matter? Both 4 man berth (only two of us (mum and small child) so that is fine), but Vango's living area very small. Went last year for the first time and loved it! I have borrowed a pop up in the past which was adequate, but as an investment I want head height, a separate bedroom and living room area as a min. I need to be able to pitch the tent on my own (I'm not a veteran camper, total female novice).
